TNA Epics TV Report for May 29th, 2009; Slammiversary Matches
Mick Foley tells us that the next match is Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles.

Slammiversay 2008 Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles

This match was good right? I remember that Kurt had a broken neck at this point. Tyson Tomko is on the outside ? is this from the ?Who will Tomko choose?? storyline? Kurt is tossed to the outside. Tomko looks upset at AJ?s dropkick on Kurt so it seems that it is not from that storyline. Kurt rakes the eyes of AJ and gets the heat. This match is the main event and although I said this last week it gives it 25 minutes to show the full match. Tomko is sent to the back by Earl Hebner and this is the distraction that allows Kurt to attack AJ behind his back. AJ hits a flip dive over the top rope from inside the ring onto Kurt on the outside who was arguing with the ref. A pin attempt leads to a one count; I don?t think that one counts are used enough I had more to say but it was hard to describe. Kurt works over AJ?s neck and back it appears. AJ gets a nose bleed from a headlock and works out of it, he runs of the ropes into a belly to belly suplex. We then go to the ad break where no doubt a huge edit will happen.

See? I was right! They are on the top rope exchanging punches and AJ counters a superplex or into a face plant. Mike Tenay called it a reversal of a ?top rope superplex? is there any other type of superplex? Well, on top of a ladder I suppose. AJ and Kurt exchange two counts. Angle hits two german suplexes and AJ reverses a third into a release suplex which if Kurt did have a bad neck, he really took enough risks with it. Kurt hits AJ with a release suplex and AJ hits Angle with a pele kick. Angle reverses a move in the corner on AJ and hits a suplex and gets a two count and AJ hits a DDT in a reversal of an angle slam. The crowd is very quiet; it is not a boring match though. I?m not happy with the referee at the moment, Earl Hebner stops moving his hand before the wrestler kick out and it is not once it is repetitive. Kurt pulls his straps down and puts on the ankle lock. AJ rolls him up for a counter and a two count. AJ again hits a pele and Angle grabs the bottom rope. Styles clash is sloppily reversed into an ankle lock and AJ reverses it and Kurt bumps into the ref. Karen appears on the stage with a steel chair. It seems that Karen is the reason for the feud. Karen tries to give Kurt the chair but he refuses and AJ hits a styles clash on Kurt for the pin. Karen raises AJ?s hand and the match is over as is the show.

TNA iMPACT Report – May 28th, 2009
The Main Event Mafia is walking in the hallway and while the women are still arguing, Kurt Angle looks depressed. We go to commercial.

We are back and the Main Event Mafia Version 2.0 comes to the ring. Sting says that there has been some speculation about the changes he will bring to the Main Event Mafia. Everyone?s job is secure but there is a need for major changes. Since this group was started, a few of them have lost their focus. They forgot why they made the pact to put the group first and egos second. It was a pact that would bring honor, dignity, and respect back no matter what the cost. It was a pact that they would finish until they got to their goal. Sting says that he lived up to that part of the deal. He wonders if everyone else has lived up to the deal. Sting wants to know if they have let obstacles get in their way. Sting says that it is obvious by looking around the ring. Sting tells Kevin and Booker that they have allowed jealousy between Sharmell and Jenna to get in the way of what they are doing. As a result, starting tonight, the women are banned from the Mafia. Sting says that he is just getting started because it does not just start with the women. Kurt has signed his own private security team without consulting with anyone else in the group. Security has been fired and Kurt throws a fit. Sting says that if anyone in the family has a problem with anything that he said, he wants them to step forward or forever hold their peace.

While he is not in the Main Event Mafia, Samoa Joe comes out. Joe says that while he might be trying to restore a shred of honor, one man cannot repair it. It takes a Nation. Joe says that he is putting them all on notice that he will be taking them all out one by one and he has been ordered to do so. That is until it is left with Kurt Angle. Joe says that he has been ordered to kill Kurt Angle.

Lashley on Kurt Angle not pursuing MMA: “I would love for him to do it, but I don’t know if that’s his desire right now. Kurt’s making movies now and he’s doing real well with wrestling, so I don’t know if he has the desire to fight.”

MMA star and former TNA talent Frank Trigg gives his thoughts on Kurt Angle entering MMA
Frank Trigg, who competed in TNA as a second to Kurt Angle, did an interview with The People’s Defender out of Ohio and explained why Angle will probably not try to enter mixed martial arts.

“I think he realized that coming in with the way the organizations are right now, he isn’t going to get the pay day he would need right now as a fighter… He is making some serious money right now with TNA. He would have to fight 4-5 times a year in MMA to make that kind of money. It’s not really worth it to him.”

Q&A with Christopher Daniels
I don?t recall you ever being in the ring with Angle before that match. Is that right?
I wrestled him one time in 2001 on a UPW show. This was right after I got let go by WCW and it was right after he got badly injured when he was wrestling a three-way with Triple H and somebody ? I can?t recall who. He had a couple concussions back to back and I wrestled him in that period of time. But, yeah, eight years later ? the rematch. I?ve been looking forward to wrestling him ever since he got into TNA in 2006, so it was a long time coming and I was really thrilled with how it came down.
