HITS & MISSES – TNA IMPACT 6/25: Kurt Angle and Eric Young money promos, Beer Money vs. Steiner & Booker, Gimmick match overload
IMPACT HITS

Frank Trigg…err, Kurt Angle’s Promo with Mick Foley: Thank goodness the belt is off of Mick Foley. I was never fond of him as champion from the word go. Kurt Angle may not be able to go to the length of some of the other people in TNA, but at least he’s shown in the past that he can still go. It was nice to see the hyped-up, in-your-face, take no prisoners style of Kurt Angle back on the microphone. And he got things done the way he wanted to, Main Event Mafia style. Great promo overall.

Main Event Mafia Changes Gears: This one was a long time coming and finally well worth it. Sting as leader of the MEM wasn’t being believed by many fans. You just can’t have a face like Sting working as the leader of the top heel faction in TNA. And while Sting has always been focused on respect and honor, Kevin Nash summed it up best with the fact that he’s always been about the money. That’s been the real story behind MEM — how much money, power, and control they can get. And the fact that they finally made that clear was perfect. The beat down on Sting was needed too. I’m not fond of the fact that Matt Morgan is being let into this group of champions, but what’s done is done.

TNA-LASHLEY IMPACT NOTE
TNA will be promoting this weekend’s Lashley vs. Bob Sapp PPV on tonight’s Impact. In an interview with Lashley conducted by CBS Sports, he noted there was talk of him fighting Kurt Angle but it won’t happen due to Angle’s neck issues

The Greatest Match That Gets No Love
Shawn Michaels vs. the Undertaker, The Ironman, Steamboat vs. Savage all have been discussed as possibly the greatest match of all time, and all deserve that honour.

There is, however, one match that doesn’t seem to receive the same hype as the others. This match doesn’t often get mentioned when the topic of great matches comes up.

Kurt Tidbit!
TNA flew in Jeff Jarrett’s doctor, a kinesiologist who does non-traditional therapy, for the Slammiversary pay-per-view last weekend to fix everyone up after their matches. Kurt Angle was treated and said he had never felt better getting out of bed on Monday morning.

Sapp believes there’s a place for entertainment in MMA
One of the main stars of TNA’s promotion is Kurt Angle. Angle often mentioned that he wanted to get into mixed martial arts, but there were never any concrete plans made. Sapp confirmed that he did indeed talk to Angle about a matchup.

“There was talk at one time about me possibly fighting Kurt Angle,” Sapp said, “but with his neck, it wasn’t going to happen.”
